I’ve been toying with an idea lately that would end up being a massive change in the way our government would work.
It is so different that it would require a sweeping amendment to the existing constitution, as it currently exists.
I am hopeful that it would eliminate having a single person be in charge of the entire executive branch.
It essentially eliminates having a single person be the President, replacing that 1 individual with a body of 3 persons that would need to work together to perform the role and responsibility of leadership.
When the folks that created our current form of government developed the foundation and built the 3 branches of government, they intended each branch to be a check and balance against each other.
Those folks hated the idea of a king having all the power. They despised the notion of 1 man having unlimited power over the people for as long as he lived.
Yet, they created an executive branch that would be led by 1 person. They named the position, the President.
Some believe that any organization is required to have a single point of responsibility for making a final decision on matters of importance.
I agree that specific responsibilities of importance should be assigned to individuals, but I do not know why each and every task needs to be held by the same single individual.
If there is a way to somehow reduce the impact caused by basically having 2 opposing political ideologies, and the resulting rabid hatred and division it has caused, the better.
No single political party would be allowed more than 2 of the 3 executives seats. The candidate with the most popular votes from whatever political party they declare to represent, would win a seat at the table, regardless of Electoral College results.
The candidate with the most votes of the “New” Electoral College would win a seat at the table.
The Electoral College would be amended too. The votes would be based on 1 per state, and it would be decided upon by the legislative body of each state, and occur after the popular election. The candidate that won the popular vote cannot also win the New Electoral Collage election.
The 3rd seat at the table would be an individual voted from the representatives from Congress. Each person voted into office to represent each state, from both the Senate and House of Representatives would have a single vote. That election would occur after the New Electoral College vote was completed.
Many powers currently held by the President would be eliminated.
No power of Veto, in any fashion.
No Presidential pardons, of any kind ever.
No Executive orders other than orders that strictly impact only the Executive branch, and cannot impact legislation beyond the internal responsibilities of that branch of government.
The executive branch would also be amended to only include departments and agencies that support that branch.
All other departments and agencies would report to and through Congress. With all departments and agencies alignment split between the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The military would report to the Executive branch with 1 individual being the main point of contact. The 3 individuals acting as chief executives would no longer be the single head of the military, but instead decide actions together instead of as a lone individual.
Obviously, there is much to work out. The specific details behind such a vast undertaking are far too many to list here and now, but I’m sure you can see the basics of this sweeping change.
A Constitutional convention would be needed and a whole lot of people that are sick & tired of politics as usual.

Representative government that actually mirrors the electorate and their wishes, instead of corporate and political pacts.
A change is needed, and not just moving the seats around on a sinking ship. A big, massive change!
