25th Anniversary of 9/11

Where has the time gone? And, how did things change so much?

That day, so long ago, was devastating in so many ways.

The one thing I remember most is how closely it tied our citizens together. We were really united.

We grieved as one. We held each other and hoped &prayed for each other. Did not matter what color or gender or age. For the most part.

We cherished our friends around the world that reached out to help, and provided assistance & comfort to our fellow citizens.

United, as one, with international support from around the world.

Fast forward to today. 25 years later, and sadly it is a horribly different world.

We are no longer united. Not even close. Most of the rest of the world despises our government leaders. Our closest allies hate us. The United States has become the laughing stock to the rest of the world.

Why?

Hatred, Bigotry, Selfishness.

Lack of Empathy, Diplomacy, Kindness, and Common good.

America first? Why?

Too many of the very citizens we were united with on 9/11 have decided to side with people that have fooled them into believing we are better than everyone else, or that we somehow deserve more, or that others owe us.

We allowed it to be okay to act, say, and behave in ways that are hateful, against anyone that is different from themselves.

Different is the polar opposite of Unified. Unity requires a sameness that ties people together. Hatefulness drives division.

This is where we are now as a nation.

Time passes in a blink of an eye. 25 years later, and how I wish we were able to do things over.

Now, I wish and pray we can reverse the damage done by politicians, instead of reversing the damage done by terrorists.
