The calls for toning down the rhetoric are seemingly everywhere, since the attempted assassination by the 20 year old that was shot by the secret service in Pennsylvania.
I understand the need for that message at this time, but just wonder whom those saying it are targeting it at?
I am a strong believer in the vast majority of normal people being less verbal and less outlandish.
The rhetoric and hatred essentially is generated by the far right and the far left factions, whose made the conscientious decision to be as loud and boisterous spewing hate and retribution against anyone and everyone that doesn’t agree with them.
Those making the biggest noise will not heed the call to tone it down. They only care about their own cause and no one else.
Sadly, there are fringe and unknowing people being influenced by their message.
If anyone is the cause of vulnerable people doing questionable behaviors, it is those on the extreme ends – and NOT the majority of those in the middle.
For years, the leadership that represented the middle was able to control the few outlandish crazies on the ends. Those leaders no longer seem to be able to do that. In part, because the single person leading the party spewed the hateful messages himself.
Hey, just an idea…maybe the politicians and influencers should just shut up and say nothing for a couple weeks.
That would be a welcome break for the majority of folks in the middle.
